WoW Midnight Season 2 Tier List: Best DPS, Tank & Healer

Every season the meta shifts, and Season 2 (Patch 12.1) is no exception. Here's a plain-English look at which specs are performing best right now in Mythic+ and the Venomous Abyss raid — useful whether you're picking a main or planning a reroll. Remember: tuning changes weekly, so treat any tier list as a snapshot, not gospel.

What are the best DPS specs in Season 2?

The current standouts reward consistent, sustained damage over big burst windows. Demonology Warlock leads, with Arcane Mage and Arms Warrior right behind. Outlaw Rogue, Windwalker Monk, Retribution Paladin and Elemental Shaman round out the strongest picks. For a safe damage reroll, Arcane Mage or Arms Warrior are hard to go wrong with.

What is the best tank in Season 2?

Blood Death Knight is the clear front-runner thanks to strong self-sustain and consistent mitigation — comfortable for both pushing keys and raid progression.

What is the best healer in Season 2?

Preservation Evoker shines in Mythic+ with mobile, reactive healing, while Restoration Druid leads raid throughput. Holy Paladin remains a strong, well-rounded pick across both.

Does the meta really matter for you?

For most players, no — every spec clears Heroic and pushes respectable keys. The meta matters most at the title cutoff. Play what you enjoy; a well-geared, well-practised "B-tier" spec beats an under-geared "S-tier" one every time.

Update, 22 September: what the class tuning changed

The 22 September hotfix was a buff pass for under-performers, not a nerf pass, and it leaves the picks above standing. Blood Death Knight traded 6% of its overall damage for a 15% stronger Death Strike, so it lost a little damage and gained survivability; it is still the tank we recommend for keys. Restoration Druid got 4% more healing, Mistweaver Monk 5% and a stronger Vivify, and Discipline Priest a large Atonement buff outside raids, which narrows the gap to Preservation Evoker and Holy Paladin. On the damage side Frost and Unholy Death Knight, Devourer Demon Hunter, both Evoker damage specs, Fire and Frost Mage, Windwalker Monk and Protection Paladin all went up. Demonology Warlock, Arcane Mage and Arms Warrior were not touched, so the DPS ranking holds.

info Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best DPS class in WoW Midnight Season 2? expand_more

Demonology Warlock leads Mythic+ with strong stacked AoE that does not sacrifice single-target, with Arcane Mage and Arms Warrior right behind. In raids Arms Warrior sits on top of a wide A tier that includes Balance Druid, Shadow Priest and Destruction Warlock. Tuning shifts weekly, so treat any list as a snapshot. The 22 September tuning was a buff pass for weaker specs and left these top picks unchanged.

What is the best tank in Season 2? expand_more

Blood Death Knight is the front-runner for Mythic+ thanks to self-sustain and consistent mitigation, with Brewmaster Monk close behind. For raid progression Protection Paladin leads on cooldowns and utility. Any tank clears Heroic and pushes 2000+ rating when played well.

What is the best healer in Season 2? expand_more

Preservation Evoker and Holy Paladin top most lists — Evoker for mobile, reactive healing and Paladin as the well-rounded pick — with Restoration Druid strongest for raid throughput. Healer choice matters far less than consistency and cooldown planning below the title cutoff.

Does my class matter for Keystone Master? expand_more

No. Every spec can reach 2000 rating and clear Heroic. The meta only decides games at the title cutoff. A well-geared, well-practised B-tier spec beats an under-geared S-tier one — play what you enjoy and fix gear and routes first.

Should I reroll for Season 2? expand_more

Only if you are pushing for title cutoffs or you genuinely enjoy the new spec more. Rerolling costs weeks of gear and practice, and tuning changes every patch. For most players the faster path is gearing your current main — our Mythic+ Keys and raid boosts do that in a single session.
